Bearded Dragons

Bearded dragons are full of character, relatively tame, generally very friendly and incredibly beautiful! It's a firm favourite lizard pet and, compared to others, bearded dragons are pretty easy to look after.

By far the most common bearded dragons available as pets are the inland bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps). Others include the Eastern bearded dragon and Lawson's dragon.

Adult bearded dragons grow to around 15-24 inches in length - and that's including the tail! In case you are wondering, they are called bearded dragons because of the beard-like extension (dewlap) around their neck and throat.

Bearded dragons, in the wild, are found only in Australia and are becoming more and more popular as pets. If kept well, a bearded dragon can live up to ten years, but generally it's between five and eight. They are no less of commitment that other pets - but are characterful and fun creatures ideal for most homes.
